Services
We undertake air quality and odour assessments, technical reviews and provide expert witness services to assist you in planning, permitting, airport air quality and more.
We can respond rapidly and provide a quick turnaround on small assessments.
If you would you like to find out about our services or would like a quote please call or email. We’ll be happy to chat to you and provide a fee proposal.

Planning
Preparation of an air quality assessment or review of air quality assessments on behalf of a local authority. The air quality assessment may be for submission as a standalone report or as an ES (Environmental Statement) chapter, and may be for submission to a local authority or as part of a Development Consent Order (DCO) application. Air quality assessments would assess the impact of road traffic, combustion sources and other relevant emissions on air quality. They would include construction dust assessments, air quality neutral (Greater London) and may assess odour, for instance from wastewater treatment works.
Permitting
Air quality assessments for submission to the Environment Agency, Scottish Environmental Protection Agency, Natural Resources Wales and Northern Ireland Environment Agency under the Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC) regulations or to local authorities under the Local Air Pollution Prevention and Control (LAPPC) regulations. The assessments will include comparison of the process contribution and predicted environmental concentration against the relevant short-term and long-term limit values and objectives for human and ecological receptors.
Emission limits for the largest processes will typically be set by the Industrial Emissions Directive (IED) or Medium Combustion Plant Directive (MCPD).
Emissions
Compilation of an emissions inventory of local air quality pollutants (and sometimes greenhouse gases) due to sources including road traffic, aircraft and other airport sources, rail, industrial emissions, commercial and domestic heating and cooling. The emissions inventory may be the end product showing the source apportionment of emissions or it may be the input to a dispersion model.
Airport Air Quality
High level advice on air quality impacts due to airports drawing on the latest government policy and guidance and our experience of assessing major airport emissions and air quality. We also undertake air quality assessments and emissions inventory compilation for small airports for baseline years and future years. The assessments will take into account the relevant sources: background sources, road traffic, aircraft on the ground and aloft, ground-based airport sources.
Local Air Quality Management
Advice on and assessment of the impact of proposed mitigations. Assistance in compiling Annual Status Reports for compliance with the Local Air Quality Management regime.
We can provide review of air quality reports submitted as part of a planning application for local authorities.
